Why Your Leads Will Never Buy (Unless You Do THIS)!

In our last post  I mentioned how most dealerships invest a lot in training, embrace third-party platforms, and invest in software to better engage with buyers…

And how all that though helpful, RARELY gets them more appointments and sales!

So again…

If better training. Being present on the web. And high-level software to predict buyer behavior isn’t getting it done. Then what is?

But before we get to that, let’s start with ONE key insight that will help us answer this question:

Prolific marketer and entrepreneur Dean Jackson shared a study not too long ago. It was from a company that handles inquiries on an enterprise level.

To sum it up… What they do is send out a “Did you buy” survey asking people if they have bought the product they originally inquired about.

What they discovered was that of those who inquired, only half bought within 18 months after the inquiry. 

And of the people who bought within the 18-month period, only 15% did it in the first 90 days. Meaning that 85% of the value of the leads you generate today is 90 or more days away.

PLEASE… Read that last sentence one more time!

When it comes to PowerSports, RV, and Marine dealerships, –this insight is a “gamechanger”.

In my experience, of the people that make inquiries about buying a vehicle. Only half of them will buy within the next 12-18 months, and less than 15% of them will do so within 60-90 days.

…right in line with that study.

Which brings me to my point.

It’s not that most dealership’s marketing and BDC suck  –it’s that they’re using it the WRONG way!
